چکیده

A new technique is developed to study beam dynamics in an overdense plasma. This technique is an alternative to, and extension of, the well-known envelope equation formalism, and it can be used in systems with nonlinear forces. It is based on a systematic moment expansion of the Vlasov equation. In contrast to the envelope equation, which is derived assuming constant rms beam emittance, this coupled moment expansion ~CME! model allows the emittance to vary through coupling to higher order moments. The CME model is implemented in slab geometry in the absence of return currents. The evolution of the low order moments of the distribution function are followed with ;100 ordinary differential equations. The CME simulation yields rms beam sizes, velocity spreads, and emittances that are in good agreement with particle-in-cell simulations for a wide range of system parameters. New analytical results for the second-order moments in the phase-mixed state are obtained. Unlike previous results, these connect the final values of the second-order moments with the initial beam mismatch. These analytical estimates are in good agreement with the CME model and particle-in-cell simulations. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S1070-664X~00!04011-8#

Dynamic Response of the Coupled Vehicle-Floating Slab Track System using Finite Element Method

In present study, a mathematical model of the vehicle–floating slab track (FST) interaction is established to investigate the coupled behaviour of vehicle–track system. The FST is modelled as the double Euler -Bernoulli beam including the rail and slab. The railway vehicle is simplified as a multi-rigid-body model. The wheel–rail interface is treated using a nonlinear Hertzian contact model, co...

Nonlinear Analysis of a Flexible Beam Actuated by a Couple of Active SMA Wire Actuators

There are two different ways of using SMA wires as actuators for shape control of flexible structures; which can be either embedded within the composite laminate or externally attached to the structure. Since the actuator can be placed at different offset distances from the beam, external actuators produce more bending moment and, consequently, considerable shape changes with the same magnitude...

شبیه‌سازی نسبیتی معادله ولاسوف برای انبساط پلاسما به خلاء

In this study, relativistic Vlasov simulation of plasma for expansion of collisionless plasma for into vacuum is presented. The model is based on 1+1 dimensional phase space and electrostatic approximation. For this purpose, the electron dynamics is studied by the relativistic Vlasov equation. Regardless of the ions temperature, fluid equations are used for their dynamics. The initial electro...

APPLICATION OF THE SINGULAR BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEM FOR INVESTIGATION OF PISTON DYNAMICS UNDER POLYTROPIC EXPANSION PROCESS

In this paper a mathematical simulation of a simplified internal combustion engine is presented. To contribute engine kinematics and its geometry, simple relations are derived for constrained motions. The equation of motion for the piston forms a singular boundary value problem. The uniqueness of the solution was studied in the Banach space. For solving governing equations an iterative numerica...

Mechanical System Modelling of Robot Dynamics Using a Mass/Pulley Model

The well-known electro-mechanical analogy that equates current, voltage, resistance, inductance and capacitance to force, velocity, damping, spring constant and mass has a shortcoming in that mass can only be used to simulate a capacitor which has one terminal connected to ground. A new model that was previously proposed by the authors that combines a mass with a pulley (MP) is shown to simulat...
